This month we hear from Club Member Mason Stewart. Mason is a current Rosmini Boy and has been paying Water Polo with the Club from a young age. He was part of the 2022 U16 Boys team who took out the National title and will be representing the club in both the U16 and U18 Age Group this year.
How long have been playing water polo?
I started laying Water Polo when I was in Year 7 in 2018, but I started playing Flippa Ball in 2014.
What made you take up the sport:
My love for the water and watching my sister play growing up is what brought me to the sport.
What do you think is the most challenging part of the sport:
Maintaining fitness, I fins that even after a short break from training, the games difficulty just becomes another level.
What is the most rewarding part of the sport for you:
The relationships I've made here at the Club and my schools Water Polo programme.
What has been the highlight of your Water Polo journey so far?
Winning National Titles with some of my closest mates.
Do you have a Water Polo 'idol' you look up to?
I've never looked up to one person in particular. However I have strived to work hard and succeed thanks to all of my coaches who have helped me on my journey.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time in terms of Water Polo?
If I stay in New Zealand, I hope to be playing for the Senior Men's team while I'm at uni.
