Bernadette Doyle - University of Hawaii

This month we hear from our Senior women's player, Bernadette Doyle. She is currently attending the University of Hawaii competing in the NCAA Women's competition, and is also a member of the New Zealand Senior Women's Team! Bernadette has been with the club since U12s, and has had an amazing water polo journey so far, here is what she has to say about her experience currently:

"I’m currently playing at the University of Hawaii and studying a second undergraduate in Economics and my masters in Marketing. I used to go to Hawaii in 2019-2020 after being scouted from playing at World Championships with our youth and Senior teams.

We train in the water Monday through Saturday and gym 3 times a week all up about 20-25 hours including team video sessions and team culture sessions.

I’ve been really enjoying this season so far both in and out of the water but I’m looking forward to starting real games shortly. We start season in January with our first games against Stanford and Michigan. This season we really want to win big west championships and be NCAA champions.

I’ll then join the National team to compete at Doha at World champs with the goal to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics."

We wish Bernie all the best!
